Welcome to  SkillsUSA-Arizona. Level 2 Programs have been designed to provide leadership and competition opportunities for students and instructors high school programs. These programs are based on the State of Arizona, Career and Technical Education Division’s Level 2 programs.

Purpose
Established to meet the needs of level 2 high school students and teachers interested in active participation in a career and technical student organization focusing on Career and Technical Education.

Membership
Membership in Level 2 of  SkillsUSA-Arizona is by school chapters.  A teacher at each campus would request membership for the school year and all students registered in that teacher’s program(s) would become members for the one-year fee of $50.00.  Four additional teachers at each site can be listed on the school’s annual membership. This fee is renewable each year. The membership form is located here and also in the Forms section of this publication. The membership year is September 1st to August 31st.

SkillsUSA-Arizona Championships
Our annual skill and leadership conference is the showcase event for the school year. Member-contestants, Advisors, School Administrators and Businesspeople from around the state travel to Phoenix for this event. Our attendance includes 1450 high school, middle/junior high, and post-secondary member-contestants, 250 teachers and school administrators and over 400 businesspeople. The Arizona Skills USA Championships will be held at the Phoenix Convention Center. Our space requirements exceed 150,000 square feet. This is a big event!!

Getting Your Students Excited
If you have attended the annual state conference, Arizona Skills USA Championships, this should be an easier task. However, we are committed to assisting you and your students in any way possible. If you would like to have someone from our office visit your class and get your students “fired-up” about SkillsUSA, contact us directly. SkillsUSA--Arizona Championships Information

Purpose

To provide a competitive skill & leadership event for level 2 members.

Eligibility

Students are eligible to compete in Level 2 Programs if they are currently enrolled in a State of Arizona, Career and Technical Education Division, Level 2 Program. All Level 2 registrations will be verified. Additionally, Level 2 Membership must be submitted by February 1, 2005 to the  SkillsUSA-Arizona office. Goals

  1. Student-member skill & leadership development.
  2. Advisor networking with Business & Industry.
  3. Recognition of 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners.
     

Participation

All  SkillsUSA-Arizona sections that participated in the Regional Fall Leadership Conference. New sections are given a one-year grace period and are not required to attend the fall leadership conference.

Registration Fee

$25.00 if registered by February 15, 2007. Late Registration is $35.00 from February 16 – March 1, 2007. Registration forms and other related information will be published here by February 1 of each year.

Personal Liability & Release Forms

SkillsUSA-Arizona requires each student to complete the Personal Liability & Release Form. Each Advisor collects those forms and keeps them. Advisors only need to submit the Statement of Assurance to  SkillsUSA-Arizona. SCHOOLS DISTRICTS MAY REQUIRE ADDITIONAL FORMS FOR NOTIFICATION TO PARENTS AND MEDICAL TREATMENT.  IT IS THE ADVISOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO SECURE ALL NECESSARY PAPERWORK AND PERMISSIONS AS PER THE DISTRICT POLICY.

Resume

Remember to have your contestants, IN EVERY CONTEST, bring a resume to be turned-in to the Technical Committee.

SkillsUSA-Arizona CHAMPIONSHIPS, LEVEL 2
GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

1.  Advisors must complete the LEVEL 2 Membership Form for their contestants to be eligible to compete SkillsUSA office by February 1 of the current school-year. 
2. A Contestant may participate in one WEDNESDAY CONTEST and one THURSDAY CONTEST. 
3. Each contest must have six or more Contestants in order for that event to be held. 
4. The judges are not obligated to award medallions or announce second and/or third place winners, if, in their opinion, the performances are below acceptable standards.
5. Official SkillsUSA dress is NOT required for state competition; however, appropriate apparel is necessary.  Appropriate dress shall be defined as the "normal apparel used in the particular occupation."  Safety glasses, or shoes, and hard hats are a MUST if called for in the National Contest Rules and Regulations.
6. At the Awards Session, winners will not be permitted on to the stage if they are not appropriately dressed.  Official SkillsUSA dress, or business attire or SkillsUSA business casual is expected. 
7. Work shoes are all leather shoes.  No canvas or partial canvas shoes.  Low heeled, "working-type" cowboy boots are permitted.
8. The decisions of the judges will be final.  Final interpretations of ALL contest rules will be made by the Arizona Director.
  The General Rules & Regulations are subject to revision each Spring following the conference.  Changes must be made by the Board of Directors of  SkillsUSA-Arizona
