The SkillsUSA Arizona Championships is the premier showcase for Arizona's trade, technology and service high school and college students. This annual conference features 70 skill and leadership competitions that determine who will represent Arizona at the national SkillsUSA Championships.

Employers, experts from industry and educators work together to design, judge and recognize our members for their accomplishments in competitions that have real-world challenges. Contestants use math, science, reading and language skills in conjunction with hands-on technical skills to compete against the best in Arizona!

  • Date: March 27-28, 2012
  • Registration & Cancellation Deadline: March 1, 2012
  • Late Registration: Not accepted
  • Substitutions: Will be accepted for the same contest only

The 2012 SkillsUSA Arizona Championships will have a completely redesigned schedule. Updates will be posted regularly as well as announced in the Monthly Director's Update.

Registration and Fees

  • National Qualifying Contests (Secondary and College/PS) $95 per person
  • State Only Contests (Secondary only) $50 per person
  • Middle School Contests (Middle School only) $35 per person
  • Observers/Guests No charge
  • HS and College/PS Advisors $50 per advisor (must have at least 1 paid advisor registration per registration.
  • Middle School Advisors: $35 per advisor

Any student, parent, guest, school administrator or other attendee, who is not competing and not registering students is eligible to attend and view the contests for no charge.

Information on how to register will be posted in January.

Requirements to Compete

1. A high school section must participate in either the Fall Leadership Conference and/or Leadership Training Camp to be eligible to send contestants to the SkillsUSA Arizona Championships. A section is an indivual training program (welding, cosmetology, etc).

2. All registered students and advisors are required to have joined SkillsUSA by the March 1 membership deadline.

3. Each competitor must submit a resume online by March 9th. http://www.skillsusa.net/newresume/

4. Each contestant is eligible to register for 1 Leadership contest and 1 Skill contest (with the exception of 2-day skill contests. NOTE: Contestants that attend the national conference will only be allowed to register for 1 contest. Any student(s) competing in a "team" contest and are missing team members will be disqualified if the entire team is not present for the competition.

Conference Hotel

Hyatt Regency Phoenix is the official hotel of the 2012 SkillsUSA Arizona Championships. All schools staying overnight much stay at the conference hotel.

A dedicated booking web site has been created for our event. Advisors are able to make, modify and cancel their hotel reservations online, as well as take advantage of any room upgrades, amenities or other services offered by the hotel.

Opening/Awards Session Clothing Requirements

The Board of Directors developed a conference attire policy to provide students with an understanding of the importance of an employee's appearance in the workplace. Although employee attire varies from job to job and company to company, with some basic information your students can make informed decisions regarding their clothing selections for nearly any event.

Students and Advisors attending the Opening Session and Awards Session of the SkillsUSA Arizona Championships are strongly encouraged to dress professionally.

Students that receive a medal at the awards session must be dressed appropriately or they will not be permitted to received their medal on stage. (Official SkillsUSA dress, professional dress, and/or official contest uniform as outlined in the SkillsUSA Technical Standards). The following types of attire will NOT be permitted: Shorts, short skirts (must extend to fingertips), thin-strap tank tops, denim pants (of any type and color), torn clothing, baggy pants, cargo pants, flip flops, and tennis shoes.
