History & Philosophy Level 2 membership was established by the Level 2 Steering Committee in the 1994-95 school year to allow students in Industrial Technology/Level 2 courses to participate in special competitions and events structured for their level of learning and experience. These contests were designed by Level 2 teachers to challenge their students. Level 2 programs in our state are in the high schools and may be “feeder” classes to the Level 3 occupationally specific courses at that high school or at a vocational campus. Each contest has a technical committee of teachers and business/industry partners who design the contest and judge the results. Membership Options High School students that plan to compete in Level 3 contests (at the SkillsUSA--Arizona Championships) must join National SkillsUSA (joining National SkillsUSA also includes membership in Arizona). The option is the teacher’s decision. A teacher at each campus completes the membership for the school year and all students registered in that teacher’s program(s) would become members for the one-year fee of $50.00. One additional teacher at each site could be listed on the school’s annual membership. This fee is renewable each year by February 1. Membership Deadline: February 1, 2007 Click here to submit the Level 2 Membership Form online. |

Introduction The SkillsUSA--Arizona Level 1 Programs (Technology Division) have been designed to provide leadership and competition opportunities for students and instructors in middle schools and junior high schools. (Students and teachers in high school settings in Level 1 programs would also qualify for membership in the Technology Division.) In most districts, Level 1 programs are administered at the 7th and 8th grade level. However, a few districts Level 1 programs are utilized with 9th grade students. ALL PARTICIPATING STUDENTS MUST BE IN A LEVEL 1 PROGRAM! Purpose The Technology Division of SkillsUSA--Arizona has been established to meet the needs of middle school and junior high school students and teachers interested in active participation in a career & technical student organization focusing on Career & Technical Education. Competitions are available for these students at the annual SkillsUSA--Arizona Championships and are designed as "feeder" programs for high school level classes. Membership Membership in the Technology Division of SkillsUSA--Arizona is by school chapters. A teacher at each campus requests membership for the school year and all students registered in that teacher’s program(s) would become members for the one-year fee of $25.00. Four additional teachers at each site can be listed on the school’s annual membership. This fee is annual and the membership year is September 1st to August 31st. |

The SkillsUSA Total Participation
Plan (TPP) allows eligible students who are enrolled in technical,
skilled and service occupations to join as a group. Teachers can use
this program if they are delivering a full SkillsUSA program to all
eligible students in a classroom, on a campus or in a school
district. This plan also focuses on the development of essential
employability, participative and attitude development skills as
called for in the U.S. Department of Labor’s Secretary’s Commission
on Achieving Necessary Skills (SCANS) Report. Under the Total Participation Plan, all students (in eligible programs*) are SkillsUSA members. You simply sign up your whole class or all students at your school in SkillsUSA-related programs using a scaled classroom/institution fee. (If you have 22 or more students, the fee is less than the total individual dues would be, and one fee covers both state and national dues.) A major component of the Total Participation Plan is the delivery of employability skills to all of your students through the Professional Development Program (PDP). When you sign up to participate in the Total Participation Plan, you make a commitment to integrate SkillsUSA and PDP into your curriculum.*Eligible programs include those that align with the contests published by SkillsUSA. This does not mean every program at a school must join SkillsUSA--only those that align with the contests. For example, marketing students should not join SkillsUSA because DECA provides more services to meet their needs. For clarification, please contact the SkillsUSA--Arizona office. |
